Parents and athletes: The weather is warming, the snow is melting and we are excited about the upcoming track and field season at Armstrong. Captains practices are happening daily M-F for the next two weeks. Athletes should meet by the trophy cases in the athletic wing each day by 2:30pm. Wear layered clothing, as we will be going outside on a daily basis. The first day of practice is Monday 3/15. We will meet at 2:30pm in the Aux. Gym. By that day, all athletes must be registered with the athletic office or they will not be allowed to practice. If you are not yet registered, please take care of it this week to avoid the rush. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday 3/17. We will be having a very important meeting for all track parents on that night at 7pm in the Auditorium Balcony at Armstrong. At this meeting, all clothing orders will take place, volunteer sign-ups will happen, fund raisers will be discussed, and important information regarding the season will be distributed. The Falcon Summer Open was a big success. In it’s initial season the event had 42 participants of all ages and abilities. Track stars Elizabeth Podominick and Shani Marks highlighted the event. Many illustrious Armstrong alumni competed and others worked the meet. Future Armstrong track stars also competed.

The girls team places 3rd let by Sid'Reshia Floyd's win in the 100m, Elizabeth Wilson's 2nd place finish in the TJ and the 4x200 team of Suzi Adams, Jazzmin Williams, Dominique Thompson and Floyd placing 3rd. The boys team finished 25th overall led by Blake Weimerskirch 2nd and Patrick Hayden 6th in the pole vault. |
